For the Novella ~ Dance With A Cowboy in
Wild West Christmas
The numbers are in and although I didn’t win I am still very proud to have been in the top five for the Holt Medallion for my novella Dance With a Cowboy in the Wild West Christmas Anthology! From what I hear from the contest coordinator, the competition was extremely stiff this year. I am looking forward to next year when I can submit The Gunslinger and the Heiress and see how it stacks up to other historical romances of the year. The one thing I love about writing is that there is always room to grow and improve. I think that is what keeps it so fascinating to me year after year.

Today
is the day that readers and writers get to chime in on why they like historical novels!
It made me think ~
For me historicals are an escape to a simpler time. Westerns especially tend to be morality plays and I like that. I love to think that the Code of the West really meant something. And that cowboys are the knights of America. (Okay – probably very much a fairytale, but hey – a gal can dream!) I also enjoy learning history and having it couched in a good story makes it all the more enjoyable.
How about you? Any thoughts?

I’m at Petticoats and Pistols this lovely (and very rainy) Memorial Day talking about…what else…heroes! Stop and chat for a chance to win a copy of The Rebel and the Lady which has one of my favorite types of heroes.
